Fels am Wagram, Austria

The Grüner Veltliner clearly plays the leading role in the Leth family's winery. More than half of the vineyard area is planted with Wagram's leading grape variety. Great attention is also paid to the indigenous regional rarity, the Roter Veltliner. The unique Wagram loess terroir significantly shapes the style of the wines, which are characterized less by superficial fruitiness but more by a pronounced minerality.  Franz Leth Jr. who is responsible for vinification aims for a fresh, typical regional character in his village wines as well as for complex single-vineyard (Austrian: "Ried") wines showing the combination of the unique loess terroir and the meticulous work in the vineyards, which have been certified organic since 2021. As a member of the vintner’s association “Österreichische Traditionsweingüter”, the outstanding ones are classified as "Erste Lage". There is a clear message behind the wines of the Leth family: the origin makes a wine outstanding! Whether it's a spicy-peppery Grüner Veltliner from Ried Scheiben, an extraordinary Roter Veltliner from Ried Fumberg or a mineral Riesling from Ried Brunnthal, you can feel the Wagram terroir with every sip.
